Last week Queens resident Christian Augirre, 26, was arrested on charges of second-degree robbery, grand larceny, and assault in the robbery that took place in Rye earlier this month. Police are still searching for one or more other suspects in the incident that left a salesman injured. The salesman had just come from Woodrow Jewelers on Purchase Street.
On June 13, the salesman was returning to his car, parked on Locust Avenue, when three men came up to him and ordered him to get down on the street. In the process his arm was injured and the suspects took his bags, which contained $50,000 in jewelry, and drove off in a black SUV.
Augirre is being held without bail at the Westchester County jail. He returns to court June 26.
Rye Police are being assisted by the County Police and the District Attorney’s Office in the ongoing investigation.
Rob Woodrow of Woodrow Jewelers told the paper that the salesman is recovering well from the injuries he sustained.
