Police Blotter
4/30: Poking the beehive. Black Ford double parked, blocking road in front of Rye Police HQ, McCullough Place, 8:30 a.m. Driver refused to cooperate in moving vehicle in timely manner, also was uncivil to another officer. Summons issued.
4/29: Ho-hum. Large pothole reported, Midland Avenue by Cottage Street. DPW to be advised.
4/28: Rules of the Road. Vehicle exited I-287 ramp onto US-1 south through red, though it was yellow. Daughter of registered owner was passenger in vehicle, boyfriend was driving. Warning issued.
4/28: Numerous guest calls regarding loud party, Marriott Courtyard. All parties vacated premise, 4:16 a.m.
4/27: Vehicle left on, locked in Station Plaza parking lot. Owner notified.
4/27: Contractor was having dispute with port-a-potty service person, Forest Avenue. GOA.
4/27: Everyone likes an appy ending. Walk-in reported his son left phone on CVS counter and it was gone when they returned. App showed phone moving west on Purdy Avenue. They observed male behind them on a phone, headed in that direction. Party walked through alley to Purchase Street. Phone appeared to stop moving in front of solar garbage bin by Starbucks. Foreman instructed to unlock bin, but phone was located at Bareburger, where employee had found phone and was waiting for someone to call. Victim not interested in pursuing criminal charges.
4/25: Illegally parked construction vehicle near Milton Road/Hewlett Avenue. construction crew was spoken to, situation corrected.
4/25: Party’s mobile home parked on Grace Church Street blocking lane of traffic.
4/24: Construction prior to 7:30 a.m., Orchard Lane, 6:53 a.m. Informed contractor of City Code. Warning issued.
4/24: Not funny, Alexa. Meadow Place resident reported she heard doorbell, unknown persons coming to her home, not sure if they left. Officers canvassed area, no signs anyone attempted to gain entry. Doorbell ring was motion sensitive, no cameras in area.
4/24: Suspicious person, BPR/Woodland Drive, 11:04 a.m. Thin, white male, wearing black blazer, jeans, no shoes. Complainant stated he seemed intoxicated. Identified party, not intoxicated.
4/24: Caller reported hit-and-run damage to his father’s gray Subaru in front of Rye Manor. Provided party with civilian accident report.
4/24: Caller stated he had just helped unknown drunk man into man’s house. Stated man was very drunk, bleeding from eyebrow. Party stated he had tripped walking into home, did not need assistance.
4/24: Neighborhood trouble. Purchase Street caller stated his neighbor broke into his apartment, damaging his door. Said his neighbor was intoxicated.
4/23: Rules of the Road. Driver side light not working properly. Tapped the glass, it turned on. Warning issued. Owner agreed to have it fixed.
4/23: Couldn’t get House Blend. Numerous calls regarding white male “ranting” in front of Starbucks. Local party identified, on his way.
4/23: Dog off leash, Rye Town Park, 8:48 a.m. Summons issued.
23: MVA, property damage; 18-wheeler struck a pole, Milton Road/Rye Beach Avenue.
4/23: Sore point. Complainant stated Con Ed had blocked off large section of Five Points parking spaces for work to be completed next day. Had no spaces left for customers. Requested spaces to be made available for night time. Con Ed agreed under condition that cones were replaced before morning.
4/22: Operation Safeguard. Observed vehicle parked in front of Resurrection Church, 1:49 a.m. Vehicle left area.
4/21: Napster. Observed occupied vehicle parked at Town Dock, Milton Road, 1:33 a.m. Was taxi driver, resting. Sent on his way. Picked up two males by AYC gate.
4/21: Large raccoon reported walking between two houses, Evergreen/Grandview avenues, 2:03 p.m.
4/21: Last Mile…and a foot. Construction plate shift, Greyrock Road/Grace Church Street. Dirt used to fill 4×4 foot hole shifted, creating 12-inch drop hazardous to motorists, pedestrians.
4/21: Howdy-<do>. Central Avenue complainant heard screaming, obscenities coming from unit above her. Spoke to occupants who had just moved in and were moving boxes. Not being noisy. Officer heard no screaming prior to knock.
4/20: No cane <do>. Handicap permit not displayed in vehicle, Elm Place/Purchase Street. Summons issued.
4/20: Credit where credit’s <due>. Caller stated she shoved her credit card into wrong hole in pay machine, Car Park No. 2. Card removed.
4/19: Caller reported white male, dressed in all black, wearing black top hat came out of woods, walked along Manursing Way, reentered woods on north side of road near clubs.
4/18: Caller stated four “shady guys” walked in back of CVS store, 1:27 p.m. Spoke with complainant and store manager, delivery driver had alarmed customer. Nothing unusual seen during search.
4/18: Barking dog reported, 2:56 a.m., Park Avenue. Officer spoke to owner, warned him to keep dog indoors at that time of night.
4/17: Rizzuto code. Party was operating electric scooter in roadway, Oakland Beach Avenue/Thorne Place, 10:37 p.m. Advised subject of scooter rules. Warning issued.
4/17: Construction noise reported at new Purchase Street structure, 7:45 p.m. Spoke to workers, they were done for night. Warning issued.
4/17: Caller reported vehicle parked in “no park” zone, Coolidge Avenue/Osborn Road. Warning issued.
4/17: Expired inspections, Chestnut/Hill streets. Summonses issued.
4/16: Caller stated his mother reported two unknown males walked up her Elizabeth Street driveway and entered her garage, 8:48 a.m. Canvassed area, spoke to complainant, parties were GOA.
4/16: Caller reported dental emergency. Called in error, was trying to reach his dentist.
