Playland to Light Up Night Sky with Rescheduled Fourth of July Fireworks

Commemorative fireworks display set for 9 p.m. Friday after storms dampened park's Independence Day celebration last weekend.

Playland Park officials aren’t letting a few thunderstorms deter them from properly celebrating America’s 250th birthday.

The park will light off its commemorative fireworks display at 9 p.m. Friday, July 10, for a belated Independence Day celebration.

“Playland’s annual Fourth of July Fireworks are a tradition not to be missed, especially for our nation’s 250th celebration,” said County Executive Ken Jenkins.

Heavy storms on the Fourth of July forced Playland to postpone its scheduled fireworks show. The weather also downed several trees, closed roads, and caused hundreds of Rye residents to lose power – leaving some houses without electricity up to 36 hours later.

Playland Park entry is free, but county officials are encouraging people to purchase ride wristbands ahead of time if possible. To buy online, visit playlandpark.org.
