Police Arrest Rye Man in Domestic Violence Dispute With Girlfriend

Rye officers responded to a call from a 43-year-old woman on Oct. 11, who said her boyfriend punched her multiple times during an argument.

The Rye Police Department arrested a local 42-year-old man on Saturday for allegedly punching his girlfriend repeatedly during a domestic dispute.

Rye officers responded to a call from a 43-year-old woman around 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 11, who said her boyfriend – 42-year-old Rye man Michael O’Connell – punched her multiple times on various parts of her body during an argument.

Police arrested O’Connell at the Cottage Street residence, and an ambulance transported the woman to a local hospital to treat her injuries.

O’Connell was booked for misdemeanor third degree assault, and was a served a protection order to stay away from his girlfriend.

He’s due in Rye City Court tomorrow, Oct. 14.
