A Port Chester man with a previous drunk driving arrest was allegedly at it again Wednesday when he drunkenly pulled out of a parking space right in front of a Rye police cruiser.

Mario Monroy, 45, pulled his parked 2014 Nissan Sentra out onto Locust Avenue near Theodore Fremd Avenue at around 12:35 p.m. and allegedly almost hit an approaching police patrol car being driven been an unidentified sergeant with the Rye PD.

The sergeant pulled Monroy, of Port Chester, and noticed that he seemed to be allegedly intoxicated. Police said Monroy failed field sobriety tests and had a Blood Alcohol Content of 0.11, well over the legal state limit of 0.08.

Monroy was arrested and charged with a felony DWI because of a prior drunk driving conviction within the past 10 years, another felony for driving with a revoked license, and a misdemeanor for driving without a court-ordered breathalyzer.

This marks the second DWI in Rye in less than a week.

On Friday White Plains teen, Jamal Abdul Razak was charged with DWI after he flipped his vehicle over after allegedly attempting to swerve to avoid hitting an animal.

Multiple passengers, between the ages of 18 and 19, sustained minor injuries and were treated at Westchester County Medical Center.
