On February 12, educational leaders in Rye and local legislators will convene to discuss pressing issues in education reform. Topics such as excessive high-stakes testing, APPR, Common Core, inBloom, and the tax cap will be highlighted.
Parents are invited to the panel presentation to learn about these issues. A Q & A will follow. Parents will be encouraged to write to their legislators, Board of Regents, and the State Education Department voicing their specific concerns.
The panel will include: Superintendent Dr. Frank Alvarez; Board President Laura Slack; State Senator George Latimer; Assemblyman Steve Otis; Jennifer Fall, Rye School of Leadership; Dayna Reist, Milton School teacher; and Suzanne Short, English teacher and English Language Arts Coordinator for grades 6-12. The panel will be held in the Rye High School Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m.
