Among the great new shows on the local lineup is the LMC-TV series, “Value Education”, portraits of the educators behind the Rye Neck School District. Offering more in-depth conversation than sound bites, the show is produced by Rye Neck High School students and hosted by the District’s Enrichment Coordinator, Valerie Feit.
“The show demonstrates the meaning and substance of a Rye Neck education,” said Feit. “Our educators, from the administration on down, are dedicated, lifelong professionals who have laudable backgrounds, multiple degrees and, more than that, a passion for kids.”
The premiere featured Superintendent Peter Mustich, who has played many roles in the District, including teacher, team leader, and principal. “The interview demonstrated how the superintendent draws from a depth of experience and what that means for our community,” said Feit.
Next up, “Value Education” will present a conversation with Rye Neck High social studies teacher Claire Comerford, who was selected to travel to Germany with a group of teachers from Westchester last summer. She did a great deal of study on the Holocaust in order to expand her own education as well as that of her students.
“Teachers, like Claire Comerford, have dedicated themselves to helping students grow and learn beyond the curriculum,” said Rye Neck High School Principal Barbara Ferraro.
The show, filmed at Studio 2 in Mamaroneck, is produced, directed, and edited by Remy Litvin. The senior, who appears to be on his way to a successful film career, has been working on Rye Neck programming since his sophomore year.
The show airs on the local public access television station’s channels 75 Cablevision/36 Verizon at 9 p.m. on Tuesdays, with replays on Wednesdays. It will also be available on the LMC-TV website starting in January.
