The groundbreaking for the wing was June 6, 2013; it’s set to open August 27, in plenty of time for the September 4 start of the school year.

On July 9, the Board of Education convened for an “emergency” meeting in order to pass a resolution to fund a $230,000 change order. That money comes out of a $300,000 contingency budget set up at the beginning of the project. It will go toward adding several more masons to the construction team, said Board President Laura Slack. The additional masons will help with interior case stonework that must be completed before the enclosed walkway into the main building can be completed, she explained.
