This Friday and Saturday, November 30 and December 1, Rye High’s Parson Street Players will present “Senior Scenes IV,” a collection of performances that will include 10 pieces from playwrights such as Shakespeare, Samuel Beckett, Neil Simon and others.
The 10-minutes pieces are chosen by RHS senior directors and acted by underclassmen, cast by the directors. It’s a chance for the older students to show off what they’ve learned over the past four years and to share that knowledge with their actors, said Michael Limone, high school English teacher and advisor to the Parson Street Players.
“I’ve always felt that Senior Scenes is the most educational theater exercise that we offer to the students. With the sharing of knowledge that occurs, the seniors also see for themselves how far they’ve come in their PSP years,” said Limone, who produced this year’s performance.
The scenes are in two acts and 54 students participated, including crew and technical staff. There are both comedic and dramatic scenes from ‘Waiting for Godot,’ ‘Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead,’ ‘Plaza Suite,’ ‘Tea and Sympathy’ and ‘Whose Life Is It Anyway?’ among others.
The curtain comes up at 8 p.m. both nights. Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for students. Senior citizens are free.
