Robert P. Latkany, 81, a longtime Rye resident and insurance agent, passed away November 3, 2018.
He was born in August of 1937 in Brooklyn, New York. At Brooklyn Prep, from which he graduated in 1955, he was a member of the Varsity Basketball team. He went on to Boston College and played on the school?s first team to make the NCAA Tournament. He received an MBA from New York University. Mr. Latkany was a First Lieutenant in the United States Armed Forces.
For the past 46 years, Robert Latkany was an agent with Shoff-Darby, and he was also an agent with Northwestern Mutual Insurance for 46 years.
An avid sports enthusiast, for 50 years he was a basketball referee in and around Westchester County.?For the last 51 years, he traveled to every Super Bowl game.?Mr. Latkany was very proud of the fact that his three sons, Paul, Joey, and Bobby were the only three brothers ever to make it to the National Finals in the history of the Punt, Pass & Kick. He also took great pleasure in traveling and visited 120 countries.
Mr. Latkany is survived by his devoted wife of 54 years, Regina Latkany; and his five children and nine grandchildren: Dr. Paul Latkany (Dr. Monica Lorenzo-Latkany) and children, Sofia and Alexia; Joseph Latkany (Bryn Duffy); Lianne Russo (Anthony Russo) and their son Anthony; Lauren Levicky (husband Rastislav Levicky) and children Alexander and Natalia; and Dr. Robert Latkany (Dr. Barbara Lock) and children Brian, Amanda, Luke, and Robert.
Visiting hours will be held November 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Graham Funeral Home.?A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated November 10?at 12 p.m. at the Church of the Resurrection.
