A total of 932 traffic tickets were written through March 31, with the largest increases coming for unlicensed operation (171 tickets), no registration (125), using cell phones (77), and no inspection (59).
Fewer tickets than average were written for seat belt violations (20) or driving through red lights (14).
Tickets for parking violations in the first quarter of 2012 topped three of four quarters last year, with a total of 3,490 parking tickets written through March 31.
Only the first quarter of 2011 reported more parking tickets written — 3,683.
