The Rye 12U Little League Tournament baseball team continued to blaze a new trail at the New York State Championships held in Penfield (Rochester) this week.
On July 27, behind the pitching of Parker Woods and a balanced, relentless hitting attack led by Charlie Rodilosso, the Rye defeated East Meadow (Long Island) 9-6 for Rye’s first ever victory at States.
The next day, Rye suffered a 3-2 loss at the hands of Rotterdam-Carman (Schenectady) in a tight contest. Luke Ontaneda hit a home run in the loss.
At 1-1 in the double-elimination tourney, Rye’s attempt to reach the semi-finals and a chance at the State Title depends on the outcome of its July 30 12:30pm game against Colonie (Albany).
