The Rye Arts Center is living its mission with its annual Student & Instructor Art Show, on view now until June 28 in the main gallery. The Arts Center aims to “inspire life-long enthusiasm and participation in the arts.”
The Student & Instructor Art Show creates a platform for artists to showcase their finished work in a gallery setting. The annual show has been fan favorite in the gallery lineup each year since 1967, with an evolving mix of artists and instructors participating in their preferred medium.
This year’s show features more than 50 works, with about a dozen of those coming from instructors and the rest from students. The exhibit embodies lifelong learning by demonstrating that instructors are students, too, and the best teachers are continuously working on their craft while sharing their skills with others.
The show features the work of visual artists working in a variety of materials, from traditional acrylic and watercolor to painting and ceramics. The show opened on June 6 with a gallery reception and will be on view until June 28.
Each work is priced for sale, unless the artist prefers not to sell it. Many of the participating instructors are teaching courses this summer in the medium displayed in their artwork, and visiting this show is a good way to learn more about all that the Rye Arts Center has to offer potential students of all ages, skill levels, and interests.
