Rye Baseball Beats Nanuet in Section Semifinals for 15th Consecutive Win

Saturday's 4-1 win sends Garnets to winner's bracket matchup Tuesday against Panas or Eastchester.

The Rye baseball team pushed its win streak to 15 in Saturday’s section semifinals, beating Nanuet 4-1.

Senior Jack Sheridan pitched all seven innings with no earned runs to earn the win for Rye (19-3), which advances to the winner’s bracket of the double-elimination Section 1 Class A semifinals. The Garnets will play the winner of No. 1 seed Panas (18-4) and No. 13 Eastchester (11-10-1) on Tuesday. With a win, Rye moves onto the section championship March 31 at SUNY Purchase.

The Garnets broke open the scoring Saturday with three runs in the second inning. Nanuet (17-6) got on the board in the top of the fifth, but Rye senior Charlie Rupp responded with a solo home run in the bottom of the inning.

Rye junior Nolan Hutson went 2-for-3 with an RBI, and junior catcher Jackson Pineault drove in two runs. Sophomore Luke Ontaneda, junior Lucas London, and junior Michael Talbott also had hits.
