Following its first loss of the season last weekend, Rye’s girls basketball team returned to the win column with a 58-31 victory against Horace Greeley.

Rye (13-1) completed the series sweep Wednesday against Greeley — with a 60-32 win on Dec. 17 — and improved to 6-0 in league play.

“This was a good bounce-back win for us,” said Rye coach Margo Hackett. “I really liked the way the girls played together, shared the ball, and trusted each other.”

Freshman guard Charlotte Storz led the Garnets in points for the second consecutive game with 20, followed by senior forward Phoebe Greto with 18. Senior guard Annie Toulouse added nine.

Rye will hit the road Friday to play Class AAA opponent Mamaroneck (6-5), the first of six games remaining on the regular-season schedule.

“What stands out most is our depth and how everyone contributes every game,” Hackett said. “As we get ready for Mamaroneck, our focus will be on continuing to clean up the little details and keep building.”

The Garnets are looking to hold onto the No. 2 seed in the Section 1 Class AA bracket, with hopes of becoming the tournament’s top seed if Nyack (11-0) were to slip up down the stretch.
