Rye’s girls golfers claimed a second-straight league title Monday, beating Harrison 249-272 to secure a spot in the section tournament later this month.

Sophomore Leila Kubursi had the low score of the day with a 44, followed by senior Anna Bancroft and sophomore Elle Ridley, who both shot a 49.

The Garnets (9-2) have hopes of a strong postseason showing, especially after defeating defending state champion Ursuline last week. The Koalas had the match’s two lowest scorers, but Rye had a better showing top to bottom, winning 237-242.

Bancroft and sophomore Sophie Ehrlich both shot a 48 to lead Rye, with senior Tori Hobbins one stroke behind. Senior Phoebe Lee and Ridley’s scores also contributed to the five-stroke statement win over one of New York high school golf’s recent powers.

The first round of the section tournament is May 18, and the final round is May 27.
