Despite losing some strong players from last year’s team that went 9-3, Rye girls rugby returns an experienced core, led by co-captains Molly Kennedy and Molly Budke.

Garnets coach Geri Jones said she’s excited to see what the senior duo can accomplish alongside sophomore Darcy Lawrence and juniors Elisa Grani, Cole Corcino-D’eccleslls, and Natalie Rosenbluth.

“We’re expecting great things from our returners,” Jones said. “They’ve shown during practices they’re ready to hit hard and low. We’re joined by a group of very enthusiastic newcomers who have spent time with our returning players learning the game and training.”

Jones noted the speed and aggressiveness of Kennedy, Lawrence, and Rosenbluth, and said the forwards will be led by Budke, Corcino-D’eccleslls, and Grani.

The team opened its season April 10 at home against the Harvey School.
