Rye High School girls tennis coach Anthony Campbell said the squad is looking ahead to high-power match ups against fellow “power league” teams Scarsdale, Mamaroneck, Horace Greeley, Harrison, and John Jay.
“They’ll all be our rivals,” Campbell said. “Scarsdale has won the state team title every year since they started that tourney.”
He said he wants his players to develop on and off the court.
“My goal for the team this season is to have all of our 50 or 60 girls between our three teams play gracious, competitive matches and grow as athletes and young adults,” Campbell said.
Senior captain Sasha Sherman and sophomore Alex DiMeo are poised to compete for the top of the singles ladder, Campbell said, and senior captains Charlotte Lorraine and Brooke Gori will help lead the team’s success.
Tennis practice started on Aug. 26.
