Dressed in 60’s garb, 175 guests helped the Rye Historical Society celebrate its 60th anniversary at the organization’s “Swanky Shindig” at Shenorock Shore Club on June 14. The gala honored Susie Morison, former executive director and long-serving board member, for her unwavering dedication to preserving Rye’s unique, vibrant history.
Partygoers enjoyed cocktails and appetizers on the porch, a dinner, and a live auction, which included a seven-night stay in Tuscany with a private cooking class and wine tour. Guests danced to favorite 1960’s tunes, including “Wake up, Little Susie, which paid homage to the distinguished honoree.
The Swanky Shindig raised more than $125,000 to support the Historical Society’s programs, exhibits and special events, as well as the maintenance of the Square House Museum (c.1730) and the Timothy Knapp House (c.1670).
The event was chaired by Vanessa Mayo, Kendra Moran and Allison Young.
