On November 30, Rye Police officers responded to a 911 report of a fight in progress on Oakland Beach Avenue near Milton Road. Further investigation revealed that Patrick Michael Cox, 53, of Rye got into a physical altercation with the passenger of a vehicle regarding the operation of the vehicle. The altercation escalated and Cox, reportedly, forcefully took a cell phone from the operator’s hand as she attempted to call 911.
Cox was arrested and charged with Assault in the 3rd Degree and Criminal Mischief in the 4th degree, both A Misdemeanors. He was transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing and was held for arraignment, after which he was released on his own recognizance and issued a full stay order protecting the victims. Cox is due back in Rye City Court on December 20 to answer the charges.
