A golfer, sailor, and skier, Bobby Loudon was known for his spirit of adventure.
Robert Loudon

Robert “Bobby” Loudon — a beloved brother, adored uncle, nephew, cousin, and cherished friend — grew up in Rye and passed away unexpectedly on Dec. 3 at home in Newport, R.I., at the age of 63. The cause is believed to have been a heart attack.

Bobby was the son of the late John and Jean Loudon and brother to the late Harry Loudon. He is survived by his sister, Lynda Sheppard, her husband, Tim Sheppard, and his beloved nephews, John and Sam, who brought him endless joy.

Bobby was the fun one. He lit up every room. He knew how to make an entrance, how to tell a story, and how to turn a simple gathering into something special. His infectious laugh was one of his most endearing qualities.

A gifted guitarist and singer, Bobby felt most at home on stage, guitar in hand, playing to a room full of friends.

Offstage, he brought the same passion to his work as a meticulous house painter who took great pride in his craft. He was also an avid golfer and lifelong adventurer, whether he was sailing, skiing, or camping out in the backyard with his beloved nephews.

A celebration of Bobby’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 21, at the Polish Club in Greenwich, Conn.

Bobby will be deeply missed by many, especially his sister’s family, who loved him beyond words. His memory will be honored by those who loved him through embracing his spirit of adventure, his love of music, and his gift for finding fun in the everyday.

Fare you well, Bobby. Your family loves you more than words can tell.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Healing Haven Animal Foundation, a nonprofit founded by his sister.
