Anne Stewart Lewis McKay, beloved wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy of love and strength. She was the devoted wife of Wiley Cotton McKay and the proud mother of five children: Shannon (deceased), Deirdre, John, Nancy, and William, as well as six cherished grandchildren — Wiley, Isabel, Mia, Cotton, Dixon, and Maysa.
Born and raised in Rye, Anne faced numerous losses, including the deaths of her mother, father, brother, husband, sister, and daughter. Despite these hardships, she lived with grace and resilience, teaching her family to meet life’s challenges with dignity.
Anne’s quick wit and sharp intelligence were evident in her love for New York Times crossword puzzles and her deep knowledge of history and literature. She passed down a profound respect for language and words to those around her. In retirement, Anne found joy in Sarasota, Florida, where she embraced new friendships and discovered new passions.
Anne will be deeply missed for her humor, patience, and kindness. Her memory will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
