Longtime Rye Neck Schools Superintendent Eric Lutinski, who announced last year he’d be leaving after 30 years in the district, has accepted a job as the interim superintendent in Pleasantville.

Lutinski’s last day at Rye Neck will be June 30. He’ll take over for Pleasantville Superintendent Tina DeSa, who is abruptly resigning a year before her contract is set to expire, the Examiner reported.

He took home a $260,616 salary in 2024, according to state records.

The outgoing superintendent announced his departure from Rye Neck schools at a board meeting last December.

“On behalf of the Board of Education, we want to share our congratulations with Dr. Lutinski for taking this step in his life’s journey, as well as offering an early note of gratitude for his decades of dedicated service to Rye Neck,” Board President Jason Carmel said in a social media statement after that meeting.

Lutinski began his career in Rye Neck as a high school social studies teacher in 1995, according to his LinkedIn profile. He then worked his way up to principal then assistant superintendent, before taking the helm as the schools superintendent in 2021.

He did not respond to The Record’s request for comment.
