The Rye Neck community voted to approve the School District’s capital improvement bond referendum February 13. Proposition #1, which was approved by a vote of 733 to 153, will fund $6.8 million in roof replacement; Proposition #2, approved 608 to 278, provides $21.33 million for expansion of classroom space, a new Science wing, and a new Middle School gym.
After the results were in, Board of Education President Patty Nashelsky said, “The improvements to our academic and athletic facilities at the combined Middle/High School campus will benefit generations of kids and families in our community. We will also be able to make urgent roof replacements at all of our schools.” She added that the Board would continue to keep the community updated all the way through the project approval and construction process.
