At about 6:50 p.m. Monday, April 20, a City of Rye police officer stopped a vehicle on Purchase Street for a vehicle and traffic law violation. The driver was identified as Jan A. Sokolowski, 59, of Meriden, Conn.
Sokolowski was allegedly driving while intoxicated and was transported to Rye Police Headquarters for processing, where he was read NYS DWI warnings and refused to submit a breath test.
Sokolowski was issued tickets returnable to the Rye City Court on May 5, 2026, and released to a sober third party.
