Rye Relay Teams Highlight Swimming Sectionals

Relay races and Rye sophomore Kieran Moran highlighted the Rye/Blind Brook swimming and diving team’s season-finale meet at the Section 1 Championships.

Moran placed seventh in the 100-meter freestyle and eighth in the 200-meter individual medley (IM) at the Feb. 10-11 meet in West Nyack. He also swam for Rye/Blink Brook’s two top-performing relay teams.

The 200-meter freestyle relay team, consisting of Moran, Rye sophomore Wilson Redd, Rye senior Michael Ladyzhensky, and Rye eighth-grader Nick Stocks, finished eighth. The 200-meter medley relay team, which included Moran, Redd, Rye sophomore Filip Glitterstam, and Blind Brook junior George Papaioannou, placed 11th.

Glitterstam, Papaioannou, Ladyzhensky, and Stocks took 18th in the 400-meter freestyle relay.

Individually, Redd finished 18th in the 100-meter butterfly and 19th in the 50-meter freestyle. Stocks finished 25th in the 200-meter freestyle and 29th in the 100-meter freestyle. Ladyzhensky was 29th in the 200-meter IM. Glitterstam finished 32nd in the 200-meter IM and 30th in the 100-meter breaststroke.
