Tom Neeves was known for his quick wit and love of sports – especially when his son was playing.

Thomas J. Neeves, Sr., of Rye, passed away tragically on Oct. 5, 2025, at age 68.

Thomas was born on Dec. 16, 1956, to Thomas and Rilla Mae Neeves. He graduated from Pace University and worked for many years as an accountant in private practice.

Tom had an incredible sense of humor, always employing quick wit and a clever jab. He was intelligent with a kind and generous heart.

An accident almost 20 years ago left Tom with a physical handicap, yet his spirit and perseverance continued to inspire, especially as an avid sports fan of the New York Yankees, but most importantly on the sidelines of the Rye High School football field, rooting for his son TJ and his Rye Garnet teammates. For Tom, being on the sidelines of TJ’s games leveled the playing field; all disabilities disappeared, and the only thing people saw was a father and son bonding over football.

Thomas is survived by his mother, Rilla Mae; and his cherished children, Elizabeth Neeves, Elinore Neeves, and Thomas J. Neeves, Jr.; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews, Angeline McInerny, Adrianna Masters, Tyler Brandel, and Taeden Brandel. He is also survived by his siblings, Linda Neeves, Michael Neeves, and Mark Neeves; as well as his former spouse, Laura Labriola.

To honor Tom’s life, family and friends will gather from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 13, at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 767 E. Boston Post Road in Mamaroneck, 914-698-5968. There will be a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 14, at Rye Presbyterian Church, followed by interment at Greenwood Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to BluePath Service Dogs.
