Dorothea “Dot” Kelly died peacefully on May 12, 2026, in Rye. She was 100 years old.
Born on Feb. 2, 1926, in Port Chester, N.Y., Dot was known for her gentle spirit, warm sense of humor, and quiet strength. She touched everyone who knew her with her kindness and genuine care for others.
She graduated from Hackensack High School in New Jersey in 1945 and went on to work for many years, including in the accounting offices of Holiday Inn and Ramada Inn, continuing her career until the age of 75.
Dot married John Kelly in 1958, and they shared a full life together until his passing in 1982. Her greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted mother and especially loved spending time with her grandchildren, who brought her endless happiness.
She is survived by her son, Jim Kelly; daughter-in-law, Suzanne; granddaughter, Megan; grandson, Quinn; and stepson, Sean Kelly.
Dot lived a long and meaningful life and will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered.
Although services will be private, those wishing to honor Dot’s memory may make a donation to The Osborn Foundation, which supports The Osborn in Rye.
