Rye volleyball beat Harrison 25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19 on Tuesday, rallying to win each of the first two sets before closing out the victory in the fourth.

In each of the first three sets, the team that started with early leads ended up dropping the set. In the first set in Rye High School’s gym, the Garnets trailed 9-7 before scoring nine of the next 11 points to grab control.

The next set, they trailed 6-2, then scored 12 of the next 13 points. Harrison made it close again, scoring six out of seven points to cut Rye’s lead to 23-21 before Rye scored back-to-back points to claim a two-set lead.

In the third set, Rye jumped out to a 5-1 lead and was up 14-8 before Harrison evened the score at 20, 21, and 22 all. The Huskies scored three of the last four points to win their lone set.

The fourth set was tied at 15 all, then Rye closed out the match to avoid any potential fifth-set drama.

Tuesday’s win snapped a two-match skid for the Garnets (3-2) and was their first home victory, following a four-set loss against Dobbs Ferry in last Thursday’s home-opener.

The Garnets host Rye Neck on Friday, then play in a tournament Saturday morning at Yorktown.
