After dropping its first set of the season Friday against Valhalla, Rye volleyball quickly returned to form, winning in four sets.
The Garnets won 12-25, 25-20, 25-20, 25-13 to improve to 2-0 on the road this season.
“Rye has played well so far,” said coach Geri Jones. “We are still finding out who we are and how to make our play flow.”
Senior Margo Ehrenberg, the Garnets’ new starting libero, led the defense with 22 digs. Fellow senior Amelie Modesto paced the offense with 36 assists, two kills, and three digs. Sophomore Audre Campbell led Rye in kills with 14.
“We are connecting as a team and getting better every day we play together,” Jones said. “I am very excited with each new game.”
Rye’s other leaders in kills were junior Katie Hillis with 10, senior Giorgia Brizio with seven, and freshman Zara Smailes with five.
The Garnets complete a season-opening three-game road trip Tuesday at Ardsley, then host Dobbs Ferry in Thursday’s home opener.
