The Rye YMCA’s Dancing Through the Decades fundraiser returned to the Harrison Meadows Country Club on Feb. 28, attracting some 200 guests for an evening of music, dancing, and community support.
There was a live auction and paddle raise for the Y Cares program, which ensures that the Rye Y’s programs – including childcare, swim lessons, and wellness efforts — are accessible to everyone, regardless of ability to pay. Last year, the Rye Y provided more than $500,000 in financial assistance.
Featuring the sounds of ETA Music, the event celebrated hits from the 70s, 80s, and 90s.
Kevin Kavanagh and Jon Elsen (former Rye Y board president and current editor-in-chief and co-publisher of The Rye Record) were presented with the Gold Spirit Award. Past recipients of the award choose the winners in recognition of outstanding leadership and service to the Rye Y.
The Community Service Award was presented to Sam Dimon, recognizing his impact in the community on a local, national, and global level.
The dance floor was packed with revelers in vintage attire, dancing to familiar favorites.
“It was wonderful to see our community come together for a night of fun while supporting a great cause,” said Rye Y CEO Sabrina Murphy.
