Rye’s Heroes Now Working Undercover
Hanes recently interrupted its underwear production lines to make protective cloth masks, thousands of which made their way to Westchester County.
On April 28, County Executive George Latimer was joined by County Legislator Catherine Parker as they presented Mayor Josh Cohn and City Council members Sara Goddard, Carolina Johnson, Julie Souza, and Pam Tarlow with 1,000 Hanes’ masks.
Latimer praised local government for showing a better way during the crisis, and Cohn thanked him, saying the County has been hugely helpful to Rye.
Afterwards, Souza & Co. headed off to distribute masks to workers at Meals on Wheels and other organizations and shops in town that had signed up for the program through the Rye Chamber of Commerce.
