It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
Santa Claus is planning to spread a little extra holiday cheer in Rye this season, The Record has learned.
Children have the opportunity to write directly to Santa by dropping off their letters at his two special mailboxes around town, and just in time for Christmas.
“Ho ho ho! It’s that wonderful time of year again! I am excited to reach out to all of you from the North Pole to let you know that I asked Rye Recreation to inform all of Rye that one of my elves will be dropping off two of my mailboxes in your City!” Santa said in a letter to residents posted the city’s Instagram page.
Santa’s Community-Loved Mailboxes are located at the Rye Recreation office on 281 Midland Ave., and in front of the Wine Bar, on the corner of Elm Place and Purchase Street. The mailboxes are red-themed with snowflake and reindeer decals, labeled “Letters to Santa, Return Address Required.”
The deadline to send letters is Dec. 15, so time is of the essence to ensure each child’s note makes it to the North Pole. To guarantee a reply, it’s essential to include a return address on the envelope, Santa told The Record. Without it, jolly Saint Nick won’t know where to respond.
Once the letters are ready, Rudolph, the bright-lighted reindeer, will dash into town on the Reindeer Express and whisk the letters away to the North Pole, where Santa promises to reply as quickly as he can before his schedule fills up, likely by Christmas Day.
Don’t miss the chance to add some extra magic to the holiday season — start writing those letters today, Santa said.
