Board of Ed Wants to Hear from You at
Next School Board Meeting, March 26
The Rye City School Board of Education and Administration would like to thank all the members of the Rye community who took the time to learn about the Capital Bond Proposal and came to the polls to cast their votes or sent in absentee ballots.
In the months prior to the vote, Superintendent Byrne and members of the Board of Education met with over 30 groups of voters, some in support, some in opposition, and some undecided. We worked extremely hard to get information into the hands of voters. Naturally, we were disappointed that the bond failed to pass, and by such a narrow margin.
Now, we must decide what the next steps will be. The physical and infrastructure needs of the five buildings and turf field remain and will not improve over time. At present, our focus is on gathering as much feedback as possible from the community.
All are invited to the next Board of Education meeting on March 26 at 8 p.m. in the Rye Middle School Multipurpose Room, where the entire Rye community can benefit from hearing all perspectives about the bond vote and the path ahead for the Rye City School District. We hope to see many members of the community that night.
