Anne Prata, who moved with family to U.S., loved animals and her Scottish heritage.
Anne Prata

Anne Cecilia Vidler Prata passed away peacefully after a brief and sudden illness on March 24, 2026, surrounded by her three children.

She was born on Feb. 16, 1952, in Edinburgh, Scotland, and later moved to the United States with her family, where she built a life centered on love, resilience, and quiet strength. She is predeceased by her beloved parents, Agnes and James Vidler.

Anne is survived by her devoted children: Sarah Stoddart Dietsch (Matt), Caroline Stoddart Farina (Joseph), and Michael Stoddart (Ali).

She is also lovingly remembered by her brother, Stephen Vidler (Kerttu), and her cherished grandchildren, Dylan Dietsch, Carson Farina, and Sadie and Sean Stoddart.

Anne was a quiet woman whose strength showed in her deep passion and fierce protectiveness for those she loved. She did not seek a large circle, but the people fortunate enough to be in her life never went a single day without feeling her kindness, loyalty, and unwavering support.

In her honor, we ask that you hold your loved ones close. Hug your parents if you are able, love your siblings and cousins well, and extend kindness wherever you can. If possible, adopt a dog or cat, or simply show compassion to all animals, as Anne always did.

Anne also had a spirited sense of humor and a firm belief she stood by until the very end: “If it’s not Scottish, it’s crap.” In her memory, we invite you to carry that sentiment forward with a smile.

Her love lives on in all who knew her, and she will be deeply missed.

A private family service to be held in Scotland at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Posh Pets Rescue or Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in her name.
