A registered sex offender was arrested after attacking a Rye resident inside his home Friday, police said.
Patrick Antonio Colon-Craig of New Rochelle, 35 — the son of salsa icon Willie Colon — was nabbed by Rye police after allegedly getting into a physical altercation with a man inside the man’s Midland Avenue home on March 14. Authorities determined that the men knew each other and the incident was not random.
Police said they also found an illegal substance on Colon-Craig, although they couldn’t confirm the type of drug. Authorities said the suspected drug was sent to a lab for analysis.
The victim was taken to Greenwich Hospital with minor injuries and Colon-Craig was processed at Rye police headquarters and released. A city court judge also issued the local resident an order of protection against Colon-Craig, according to police.
In 2011, Colon-Craig was also arrested when authorities discovered an “extensive” collection of children engaged in sexual acts, with at least 41 videos on his computer, USA Today reported. After being charged with possession of child pornography, he was sentenced to five years of supervised release and had to registered as a Level 2 sex offender. He pleaded guilty and avoided prison.
In New York state, a person convicted of certain sexual offenses crime is required to register as sex offender and be placed on the state’s Sex Offender Registry.
