Nostalgia was in the air as 27 members of the 2005 Rye football Garnets gathered recently to celebrate the 20th anniversary of their state championship at Rye Grill & Bar.
The full coaching staff also joined in as the group came together for the first time in two decades to celebrate their winning season.
The group rewatched the full championship game, shared laughs and stories, and reflected on the moments that defined one of the greatest teams in Rye football history.
“Rewatching the championship game together brought back the pride we all felt representing Rye and the gratitude we have for being part of a team that meant so much to this town,” said team member Pete Longo. “The connection between the players and coaches is as strong as ever, the kind of lasting brotherhood you only get from going through a season like that together and the kind of bond that only comes from being a Rye Garnet.”
