Annabel Monaghan launched her “most personal book yet” to a hometown crowd at the Wainwright House on June 3.
Ahead of the June 4 debut of the novel, Monaghan told the crowd of more than 200 that her new book, “Summer Romance,” was decidedly set in Rye, and features many locations that locals will recognize — especially the dog park in Rye Town Park.
As the sun set behind her on Milton Harbor, the author also divulged that the book features a love interest who skate boards, a protagonist who converse with her dead mother (something Monaghan confessed that she herself does), a 93-year-old neighbor, and a lot of wisdom and love.
Monaghan took questions from the audience and then signed book after book as the crowd queued up for their autographed copies.
