The annual autumn Welcome Back Service September 10 at Rye Presbyterian Church turned into a surprise anniversary party for The Rev. Daniel H. Love, co-pastor, celebrating his 20 years at the church.
Preaching outdoors under a big tent on a beautiful Sunday morning, Love’s sermon was full of fond, funny, and touching memories of the past two decades. Immediately following the benediction, as he was ready to step forward and greet his parishioners, he and his wife, Carol, were asked to stay, when they were then honored. Gifts included not one, but two Boomboxes, keepsake boxes overflowing with custom-printed messages and photos from the congregation.
Love, visibly moved, said that besides welcoming and giving, he also had a pretty sneaky congregation!
