A concerning car fire at a gas station on Boston Post Road Thursday led Rye firefighters to call in to neighboring departments for assistance as the blaze burned just feet away from the gas pumps.
The Rye Fire Department received a call around 7:15 p.m. on May 15 about a car engine fire at gas station, located at 1 Boston Post Road near the Mamaroneck border.
When firefighters arrived on scene they witnessed a black Chevy SUV full of fire under its hood. The vehicle was parked next to several vehicles and in front of the gas station’s service garage.
Since the fire was in close proximity to the garage, fire officials upgraded the call and phoned in to Rye Brook and Larchmont fire departments for assistance.
The fire was quickly tamped down, according to fire officials.
The gas station was reopened shortly after 8 p.m. that night.
