An empty SUV was found in Rye fully ablaze during the early morning hours Sunday, police said.
The SUV, a dark-colored 2014 Dodge Durango, was reported on fire to Rye police at around 4:50 a.m. in a wooded area along Lavendar Lane. Police and fire personal responded to the scene and located the car engulfed in flames.
By the time firefighters had the blaze under control, portions of the vehicle had been charred and the windows shattered.
The cause and origin of the suspicious fire is currently under investigation.
The Durango, which was unoccupied, has been towed to a secure police impound for further probing, according to police. There were no reported injuries in the fire.
