Rye police make 13 arrests in January and February of this year, up from six in first two months of 2025.
December arrests include two drivers allegedly operating vehicles while intoxicated.
There were eight arrests in November, up from the three people taken into custody by police during the same period last year.
This ends a four-month trend of dramatic spikes, where leaf blower summonses issued increased most notably in May and June, by 25 compared to the same period last year.
Police issued 28 summonses for leaf blower violations in June, up from the three summonses they issued in June of last year.
The increase has been a trend over the past three months, as March and April saw increases of 13 and 37, summonses, respectively, compared to 2024 numbers
The amount of leaf blower complaints that Rye police received nearly doubled from the 15 calls police logged in March 2024 to 29 this March.
There were 2,236 police service calls in February, a 50% increase from the same period last year.
Police made three arrests in January, compared to two in January 2024 -- a 50 percent increase year over year, monthly police department data shows.
Two of the arrests in Rye were for felonies, including the Dec. 18 apprehension by police of a Brooklyn man who used counterfeit bills on Purchase Street.
