The City Council OK'd a $7,000 proposal on Wednesday night to launch a thermal study to determine the severity of the deer population in town.
Deer overpopulation has long been a concern in Rye. The city formed a similar committee in 2015 after complaints about property damage, deforestation, and rising Lyme disease cases.
Deer cause car accidents, leaving humans injured or dead and the deer population to suffer slow agonizing deaths.
