In a public hearing Wednesday, owners of 43 Locust Ave. requested to proceed with plans to demolish existing building and build a new three-story structure.
Council members agreed that further study was necessary to best protect the Central Business District, while maintaining that a moratorium could still be an option down the road.
The moratorium proposal is intended to give the council time to evaluate whether the city’s current zoning laws should be amended to preserve aspects of the community’s character.
