A similar parking program is already in effect in downtown Harrison, where only permitted residents are allowed to park on certain streets during the daytime.
The train station lot generated $726,000 in parking permit revenue last year -- split between the city and MTA. The lots on Highland and Cedar brought in $247,000.
Merchants and residents are not happy with the closing of the much-needed municipal lot, because of the lack of available parking spots downtown.
