The teen, whose name has not been released, was charged Friday morning with making a threat of mass harm to the Rye YMCA, a class B misdemeanor, according to police.
Police say they identified the suspect and believe the threat to the Rye YMCA was not credible. The suspect made the phone call from within the city, according to police.
Videos posted to Twitter showed helicopters flying over a large student gathering, along with drones and dozens of police in riot gear. Several videos also showed people pinned to the ground by police.
A group of Rye police, including Public Safety Commissioner Michael Kopy, met with an estimated 15 residents at a Park Avenue address on Monday, April 16.
