The new school budget, which goes into effect on July 1, will usher in two new high school teachers for the much-anticipated International Baccalaureate program.
A ban on cell phones, one of Gov. Kathy Hochul's top priorities, is also one that many Rye youth and education advocates have taken up in the last year.
During budget deliberations last year, Byrne said he anticipated that the district would not face another override for years to come.
According to the RFP seeking search firms, the board hopes to appoint a superintendent who will begin around July 1, 2025.

The decision is expected to become official at Tuesday's city Board of Education meeting, where Byrne will formally tender his resignation for the purpose of retirement.  
The Rye City School District has a ton of new hires.
Rye voters overwhelmingly backed the city’s school budget on Tuesday night, marking the first time the district spending plan exceeded the state’s tax limit in nine years. 
The school board’s unanimous approval means that the district will look to pass an override budget for the first time in nearly a decade.
Byrne, who has steered Rye schools since 2017, has ushered in school budgets that were all cap-compliant – but said he knew this day was coming.
