Sole Ryeders & Friends, a local charitable organization that provides and supports cancer-related programs, recently launched a video they’d like you to watch. Their Challenge (#take5minutes4breastcancer) involves taking five minutes to watch the recently recorded “Five Senses,” a song written for all women who’ve been affected by cancer; donate $5 to support Sole Ryeders’ programs; and then ask five friends to do the same.
Rye’s MaryEllen Doran was inspired to write the song after spending time interviewing female cancer survivors who are part of Sole Ryeders. The song tells the story of a woman who wakes up on a typical day only to discover she has breast cancer, a story familiar to so many friends, family members, and neighbors. Luckily, the woman’s journey brings her to a place of healing and renewal and changes her in ways that she never imagined.
“Hopefully, MaryEllen’s song will heighten listener’s senses, move them to appreciate the everyday part of life, and consider making a donation to an organization that now helps women with cancer across the country,” said Sole Ryeders co-founder Sandy Samberg.
