It happens every May. While most students are counting the number of school days left, I’m checking my calendar to make sure it’s cleared for the Rye Youth Council Awards Breakfast. It’s not that I’m necessarily hungering for teen time, but this is a very special group of kids. All the youth in the Westminster Room at Rye Presbyterian Church on May 29 have exhibited character well beyond their years.
And character counts, especially to the Rye Youth Council, which for over 50 years has worked “in partnership with the schools, parents, and the community to ensure that all students are given the guidance to develop the strength of character to become resilient and responsible members of society.”
