Our contributing nature photographer Jay Mahoney, who has never turned down a road trip in pursuit of wildlife, is the closest thing we have to a modern-day Audubon. He was good enough to share some of his recent photographs, including species he’d never been able to capture before.
“The Bridled Titmouse was a new bird for me. The Rufous-capped warbler is very rare in this country and I had a very difficult hike to see it,” Mahoney wrote us. “The Vermillion flycatcher is beautiful. The Elegant Trogon took us many hours to find and we only saw one female. She is beautiful, but the male would have been spectacular.”
